Following on from the Hiring Fair, Sally returns to Glenbra determined not to remain a hired girl for the rest of her days. On her return she witnesses death, eviction, and the courtship of her mother, but nothing was as devastating as her love for Manus McLoughlin and the events preceding that fateful Blaeberry Sunday.
