Roderick Alleyn, his wife and son are on the night train for a holiday in the Alpes Maritimes. Just when he saw something being killed as they flashed by, Miss Truebody, an English spinster further down the train, burst her appendix. What followed was most unconventional and Alleyn had a hard job of proving that English policemen are wonderful.
