Jess, a young teacher visits her sister's house in Wales. She is disturbed by the cries of a mysterious child. The valley was the site of a great battle between the British tribes and the invading Romans. Their king with his wife and daughter, the princess Eigon were captured and taken as prisoners to Rome. Jess is drawn to Eigon's story, and she determines to visit Rome.
