The girl from Cobb Street

In 1939, Daisy Driscoll meets Gerald Mortimer and falls in love. Gerald is a cavalry subaltern in the Indian Army and is in London on leave. He returns to India, and leaves Daisy alone - and pregnant. This news reaches his Colonel's ears and Gerald is forced to marry her. Daisy begins a new life with her husband - but adjusting to this is hard, as she discovers Gerald is in debt.
