Roll of thunder, hear my cry

Roll of thunder, hear my cry

Set in Mississippi at the height of the Depression, this is the story of a black farming family's struggle to maintain their pride, dignity and independence against the forces of a cruelly racist society. Narrated by nine-year-old Cassie, it tells of one turbulent year of tragedy and economic hardship, of night riders and burnings.
