The cunning man
The narrator, unconventional Dr Jonathan Hullah, the 'cunning man' recounts his tale from the time that he, Brocky Gilmartin and Charlie Iredale were schoolfriends. The three play out a triangle of love and friendship ending in tragedy and the wheel of fate turns again when Hullah takes up residence at Glebe House, overlooking St Aiden's where Charlie is now curate.
